Bismarck / Mandan Low-Income Homeowners Are Invited to Apply for “Free” Home Repairs.
Rebuilding Together is a United Way agency which provides assistance for people who own their homes, but because of physical limitations or income, properly maintaining a home can be an impossible task. Typically, these individuals have a disability and/or are elderly.
Many of our neighbors in the community cannot provide themselves with even the basics we take for granted. Typical home improvements include replacing floors and carpeting, improving plumbing and heating, replacing unsafe electrical wiring, replacing kitchen appliances, installing handicap accessible devices and ramps, painting (exterior and interior), plaster repairs, replacing or repairing drafty windows & doors, installing smoke & CO2 detectors. In addition to making your home safe, warm and dry, our volunteers also do yard work!
Homeowners must:
- Own/reside in their home
- Have current home insurance
- Owe no back taxes
- Include older persons, persons with disabilities or be a low-income family
- Be unable to do the repairs themselves
The majority of the work is performed by volunteers, utilizing donated materials and resources at no cost to the homeowner. Applicants may refer themselves or be referred by an agency, organization, family member, neighbor, church or others.

We appreciate that Rebuilding Together makes it possible for our employees to help others in the community. We put together a blog post with a video on our employees’ efforts last weekend. We wish Bethany all the best! http://basinelectric.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/basin-electric-employees-help-fix-up-a-home/
